Outdoor Canada is pleased to present Blue Fish Radio—podcasts about the future of fish and fishing in Canada. The program, produced and hosted by Lawrence Gunther, is dedicated to sharing first-hand angling knowledge, scientific discoveries and supporting local champions who protect and enhance their waters.
Anglers who visit Alberta’s Ram, Livingstone, Oldman and Crowsnest watersheds experience some of the world’s finest fishing for wild cutthroat trout and monster bull trout. All of that is now being put at risk. The Alberta government recently decided to remove protections that have defended these watersheds for decades, and allow open-pit coal mining in the headwaters of these four historic trout rivers.
Well-known conservationist (and Outdoor Canada contributor) Kevin Van Tighem (above) is one of many Albertans speaking out. In this episode of Blue Fish Radio, producer/host Lawrence Gunther talks to Van Tighem about the urgent need to reverse Alberta’s coal mining plans, and save these precious rivers.
